You’ve probably seen our awesome infographic depicting seven of the most recognisable (and most awesome) vans from movies and TV by now. Well, if you like that, you’ll like this. Because we’ve decided to share a load of fun facts with you about these vans and the movies or TV shows they feature in!
1 Libyan Terrorists' Van (Back To The Future)

- Richard L. Duran and Jeff O'Haco, the actors who played the Libyan terrorists were professional stuntmen. They had to roll over the van in the movie.
- A continuity mistake can be seen in the scene with the Libyans. Each time the camera cuts away and returns to the interior of the van the odometer shows different readings. In fact, the final time, it's a different set of instrumentation all together.
2 The Mystery Machine (Scooby Doo)

- In one episode, It's Mean, It's Green, It's the Mystery Machine, the Mystery Machine goes rogue and starts to chase the gang. This could be a reference to Stephen King's Christine, a book with a similar premise.
- A family band called the Mystery Kids owned the van prior to the gang, hence the name.
3 Uncle Rico's Van (Napoleon Dynamite)

- The guy who owns the Dodge that was used in the film has created a Twitter page dedicated to the van. It only has 36 followers...
- The name Napoleon Dynamite is a pseudonym used by musician Elvis Costello. Filmmaker Jared Hess only found this out a couple of days before shooting began for the movie.
4 Borat's Van (Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan)

- When Borat goes to the car dealership, the salesmen had no idea that he was talking with an actor but did think something fishy was going on. In reality, he didn't sell him an ice creamtruck.
- Sacha Baron Cohen had the police called on him a wopping 92 times during the production of this movie.
5 The Yellow VW Bus (Little Miss Sunshine)

- Five different VW microbuses were used throughout filming. Some were modified to accommodate different filming techniques - three of the vans had engines while two were mounted on trailers.
- Actor Greg Kinnear has joked that it was a dangerous movie to film as he had drive 50 miles per hour in an old 71' VW van behind a huge camera truck.
6 1983 Black & Grey GMC Vandura (The A-Team)

- There have been several different vans used throughout the 5 series of The A-Team, which has made for several continuity errors. Early on the GMC logo could be seen; while later it was blacked out. Also, some versions of the van had a sun roof while others didn't.
- In different episodes you can see different items in the back of the van. This includes Hannibal's disguise kits, a mini printing press and an audio surveillance recording device.
